I love this town! I’ve lived here for 28 years! In that time, I’ve seen the population double while struggling to accommodate a balance of economically feasible and community-serving growth. I’ve had many “titles” in this town – entertainer, waitress, bartender, sign maker, restaurant owner, administrative clerk, wastewater treatment lab tech & data analyst. Alas, homeowner is not one of them. I’ve always thought outside the box to survive here, while meeting Avalon’s needs. I thought what can I contribute? The sign painter passed the year before I got here, so I created a sign business. The comedy club closed at the Glenmore, so I sold the sign business, got a small business loan and opened my own. Avalon needs someone like me who is not afraid to challenge the status quo and be a genuine vessel of change for the betterment of our community. As Jane Jacobs said, “Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody.” As much as I’ve loved being the informal “Voice of Avalon” over the years, I’m very excited about the opportunity to formally represent and empower the many voices of Avalon on City Council.
I humbly ask for your vote for City Council.
