KIM BOWMAN is a nonprofit attorney, father, and advocate for older adults who is working to improve La Cañada Flintridge to make sure it remains an inclusive community for people at every stage of life.
Kim has a demonstrated commitment to public service. He is special counsel for a Los Angeles County nonprofit legal organization where he provides free legal assistance to those harmed by natural disasters and leads the estates and probates project for low-income individuals and families. Prior to his role as special counsel, Kim served as FUSE Executive Advisor to LA County’s Chief Deputy of Juvenile Services and was responsible for a dozen distinct projects to craft new policy, develop new public services, and improve existing juvenile justice programs.
Kim is a major in the United States Air Force Reserve and a member of the Air Force Judge Advocate General’s Corps Reserve (JAG). He is also the president of the LA County Commission for Older Adults, a La Cañada Flintridge Parks and Recreation commissioner, co-organizer of the La Cañada Flintridge Welcome Association, and has served on the boards of several community councils and nonprofit organizations.
Kim holds a law degree from the University of the Pacific, a master’s degree in gerontology (aging) from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree in business administration from Westminster College, and two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Utah. He is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals, the state courts and central district federal court of California, and all state and federal courts in Utah.
Kim is married to Cynthia Nguyen, M.D., a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at a nonprofit children’s hospital in Pasadena. Together with their 18-month-old Alice and three cats, the family makes their home in La Cañada Flintridge, California.
